loop video

bill bag’ fixates on a firmly grasped plastic bag carrying a folded Cumhuriyet newspaper, a pair of sandals and a sleeveless shirt. The lack of a hand and environmental cues reflects the increased use of omnibus bills, called torba kanun in Turkish, distancing the republic from legislation. ‘long live peony’ looks at these red-manufactured-pink-looking plastic bags as an object. To decrease the usage of paper bags, a Swedish company invented the single-use plastic bags in 1965 and in thirty years we had accumulating trash in the ocean called the Great Pasific Garbage Patch. Shaping a single plastic into a peony, the symbol of compassion and a plant that can live up to hundred years, is an invitation for reconciliation between past, present and future
